Who Created Knitinspire.com and Why
This website was created by a knitter — for all who love to knit.
My name is Liuba, and I’ve been knitting for many years. Knitting is my passion and my meditation. I knit with needles, crochet hooks, and on a knitting machine.
When starting a new project, I often had lots of questions:
- Will I have enough yarn?
- How can I use a different yarn than the one listed in the pattern?
- How can I adjust a model — like changing the neckline, the length, or the style of the sleeves?
I searched for answers, experimented, and learned how to draft patterns for knitted and crocheted garments, and how to do the math behind them. Eventually, my projects started to look just the way I imagined them.
I decided to put all that knowledge into a website. It took me a few years to build — I don’t have a big team (or even a small one). I do almost everything myself.
For the past few years, I’ve been an active user of my own site. I knit for myself, my children, and my husband — and I save everything here. I also share free knitting instructions on my blog based on the models I created using the site’s tools.
I have many plans. Right now, I’m working on a new version of the site — simpler, more accessible, and easier to use. Many of you have asked for seamless models — I’m working on that too.
The site used to run on a paid subscription. But two years ago, I removed it. Now the site runs thanks to your donations.
If you love knitting — welcome! I truly hope this site will be useful to you.
If you have ideas or questions — feel free to write me. I read every message and reply personally.
